Explorer is a community inclusion program for independent young (or just young at heart) adults. Staff support the participants in attaining the skills they need for community integration and recreation.

Explorer is a very busy program where participants are encouraged to develop independent living skills to support their social and recreational goals. Positive outcomes for the individuals attending this program include: reduction in aggressive outbursts, improved mental health, reduction of critical incidents, support of the stakeholders involved in their living situations, increased choice, and improved community access. Participants in this program use transit to access many activities, and have been instrumental in advocating for, and getting, improved bus access in Nanaimo.
